CYP2D6 Genetic Testing

CYP2D6 Genetic Testing

Test Code 9008619
Test Name CYP2D6 Genetic Testing
Test Method Targeted genotyping assay
Brief Description Genetic test for CYP2D6 variants to predict the response to therapy
Detailed Description The test uses the FDA-approved xTAG® CYP2D6 Kit v3 by Luminex. It is a targeted genotyping assay that interrogates a panel of CYP2D6 variants that alter drug metabolism, including gene rearrangements (deletion and duplication), and determines a sample's diplotype. The assay consists of a multiplex Polymerase Chain Reaction and a multiplex Allele Specific Primer Extension based on Luminex's Universal Tag sorting system, and is run on the Luminex® 100/200™ xMAP® platform.
Clinical Information Cytochrome P450 2D6 is thought to be active in drug metabolism, including anti-psychotics, analgesics and cardiovascular drugs. The CYP2D6 gene is highly polymorphic across populations. Poor drug metabolizers have a frequency of 7-10% among Caucasians, 2% among Africans/African-Americans, and 1% among Asians.
Knowledge about the CYP2D6 genotype of an individual can help the clinician personalize drug dosage.
Grifols accepts direct ordering from labs and physician offices. Please, follow instructions bellow for a successful receipt of samples at the lab.

APOE Exon 4 Genetic Testing

APOE Exon 4 Genetic Testing

Test Code 9007753
Test Name APOE Exon 4 Genetic Testing
Test Method Sanger Sequencing
Brief Description Genetic test to detect variants in exon 4 of the APOE gene associated with risk of Alzheimer Disease (AD)
Detailed Description The assay uses Sanger sequencing to interrogate the following genotypes in exon 4 of APOE: E3/E3, E3/E2, E3/E4, E2/E4, E2/E2, E4/E4
Clinical Information APOE genotyping can help in the diagnosis of probable late-onset AD in symptomatic adults. On the basis of the detected genotype, the test predicts the risk of AD. If a person has dementia, the presence of certain variants in APOE exon 4 is associated with an increased likelihood that the dementia is due to AD.
The assay may be ordered as an adjunct test when an individual has symptoms of progressive dementia, such as decreased intellectual ability, impaired language and speech skills, memory loss, and personality and behavioral changes that interfere with daily routine.
