New Weak D Control Available for DG Gel Cards and Tube Technique
Grifols is pleased to announce the commercial launch of its new Weak D Control, a dual-use formulation now available for DG Gel cards and tube technique. Traditionally used in tube testing, this expansion to DG Gel cards provides laboratories with greater flexibility and consistency in RhD typing across different methodologies.
The Weak D Control ensures accurate validation of weak D results, supporting blood banks and donor centers in maintaining the highest standards of quality and compliance. By confirming agglutination, it verifies that RhD typing procedures are functioning correctly, reinforcing routine quality control processes.
Weak RhD testing is critical for safe transfusion practices. In donor antigen typing, it is performed to verify that RhD-negative donors are truly negative, preventing inadvertent RhD-positive transfusions to RhD-negative recipients. In patient RhD testing, it enables detection of potential weak RhD variants, safeguarding against alloimmunization and supporting appropriate RhIG prophylaxis strategies during pregnancy. This contributes to improved patient outcomes and promotes safe transfusion practices.
This launch reinforces our commitment to supporting healthcare professionals with advanced tools that enhance blood safety worldwide.
